2017 OSU Summer Workshop - New Music Session

Each year, Stanton's selects pieces from all the new string orchestra titles that are published. These are works that Stanton's plans to feature on reading sessions, our website and printed promotions - in other words, the string orchestra music we plan to recommend to our customers. We determine these top choices using three particular criteria:

1.) Does the piece contain valid material with which to teach musical concepts?

2.) Does everyone have reasonably active and interesting parts? Anything unique?

3.) Does the piece lend itself to being featured on a concert or adjudicated program?

Here are our recommendations for the 2017/2018 school year, as played by teachers from all over the country at the 2017 Ohio State University String Teacher Workshop.
