Capital University is in it's first summer of offering a Masters degree in jazz education. Stanton's jazz specialist, Ben Huntoon, was a guest lecturer and presented Teaching Jazz History with Literature. Using the jazz style periods indicated in Volume 3 of the Real Easy Book, Ben selected an easy and advanced big band chart from each. Given odd and limited rehearsal times facing school directors, teaching jazz history/theory needs to be incorporated into every rehearsal.
